January and March were very successful months for Global OrthoBiologic, Inc. (GOB). Our team conducted two stem cell therapy demonstrations and hands-on training in the Orthopedic-Traumatology Department of Uzsoki Hospital in Budapest, Hungary. This is one of the centers of cartilage repair surgery in central Europe.
The trainings were organized with the help of the Hungarian distribution company, BioSan, represented by Mr. Onoriu Manolescuand Mr. Gabor Vestergombi. The Uzsoki hospital was represented by their top surgeon Prof. Dr. Laszlo Hangody. He developed the mosaicplasty surgery technique, in which cartilage lesions are treated with autologous cartilage. The Orthopedic-Traumatology department performs over 3000 elective orthopedic and over 1500 trauma inpatient operations annually, as one of Hungary’s largest orthopedic departments.
January 11, 2016. Prof. Dr. Laszlo Hangody and Dr. DzihanAbazovic (GOB scientific advisory board member) performed the first BMAC procedure in Hungary. Our patient was Bence Batik, one of the players in the Hungarian First League. The vast majority of the surgeons that watched the demonstration by Dr. Abazovic exclaimed how impressed they were with the GOB products and the procedure. Dr. Abazovic also presented some of the latest information on the science of stem cell therapy as well as numerous examples of his own successful results from the application of stem cells in bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC).
March 31, 2016. Dr. Abazovic demonstrated anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL reconstruction) on one of the football players of the Hungarian national team – Tamas Priskin.This is surgical tissue graft replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament, located in the knee, to restore its function after anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The GOB Team would like to thank Uzsoki Hospital for their generous hospitality, and the BioSan Company for providing us the opportunity to work with Prof. Hangody. He will be in the scientific committee of the the 59th annual congress of the Hungarian Orthopaedic Society (http://www.asszisztencia.hu/mot/2016/koszonto.htm)and he is more than excited that he will have the opportunity to share the GOB training results and the use of the Magellan BMAC system in front of all his colleagues on the congress. Annually this congress is fully attended by hundreds of surgeons from Hungary and other countries all over Europe.
After the successful trainings, GOB and BioSan agreed to continue their successful business cooperation. BioSan will become the Hungarian distributor of Global OrthoBiologic, Inc and will do whatever it takes to implement the entire GOB product portfolio in Hungary.
