Global Regenerative Trade

After the successful presentation at Arab Health in January, the Global OrthoBiologic, Inc. team was invited again to Dubai to discuss new business ventures and opportunities.  Randy Beimel, President of GOB and Mihail Blagoev, VP International Business Development were warmly welcomed during their one-week visit.

February 27: The GOB team was invited by Dr. Hesham Nadrah and Mr. Yasser Aly, CEO of Novel Pharma (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) to join them for a business meeting in one of the private conference rooms in Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. Mr. Aly is the Advisor of the KSA Ministry of Health. The Novel Pharma team was highly interested in the Magellan system and all the products of Arteriocyte. The Magellan System is a fully automated, dual spin, self-balancing, microprocessor driven system with intelligent detection capabilities utilizing optic sensors in addition to centrifugal force and cell density for cell separation. This system was designed to be gentle on the cells and flow cytometry testing showed that 97% of platelets are not activated during processing. In addition, the Magellan does not depend upon user accuracy for product quality and it is not a hematocrit dependent system. Together, these benefits allow for a consistent and reproducible product and this is exactly what Novel Pharma was looking for! Our team was perfectly prepared for the meeting and the experts from Saudi Arabia were more than impressed. The presentations led to a discussion for a mutual corporation and an opportunity for GOB to enter the Saudi Arabian market with the support of Mr. Aly. He agreed to all the terms and conditions in order to become the new distributor of Arteriocyte in Saudi Arabia. Although Arteriocyte is already registered in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Aly assured us that he is willing to implement all the products and make the company stronger than ever before.

February 29: A meeting with Dr. Shawked Al Khayal from Al Khayal Medical Centre (Best Men’s Health Clinic in Dubai).

Al Khayal Medical Centre is a private multi-specialty clinic that provides top-notch medical treatment and testing for patients with STD. Aside from being a local STD clinic Dubai patients can rely on, the Centre also specialize in providing quality medical and testing services for those who are afflicted with prostate disease, ureteric and kidney stones, and erectile dysfunction (also known as ED dysfunction), and other urological and reproductive health maladies.

Dr. Shawfed Al Khayal is a consultant urologist with more than 20 years of experience. He graduated from Baghdad University College of Medicine 1991 and moved to The United Kingdom after his internship where he had obtained training, experience and higher qualifications. Dr. Al Khayal completed his Masters Degree in Urology from UCL in 2004 and a Fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology in 2008. He was a lecturer at Sussex University Medical School, UK, and an Honorary Consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and the head of Urology Department at Benenden Hospital in Kent. Dr. Al Khayal moved to Dubai in 2013 as a consultant urologist and head of department at the American Hospital Dubai. Established Al Khayal Medical Centre for Urology and Andrology at Dubai Healthcare City, 2014.

During our day visit, Dr. Al Khayal performed the latest therapies for Sexual Wellness (OShot & PShot) using our Magellan device. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) rejuvenation is one of the most talked about new treatments in cosmetic medicine and Dr. Al Khayal is leading the way in its use for sexual rejuvenation with the P-Shot® and the O-Shot®.

Many women suffer in silence when it comes to talking about sexual problems. Menopause, childbirth and even the natural ageing process can result in a loss of sensation, decreased sexual enjoyment and functional issues in the vaginal region. The O-Shot®, or Orgasm Shot®, is a pioneering new non-surgical technique which involves Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) being injected into the vagina in order to rejuvenate it and enhance sexual pleasure. The O-Shot treatment can also improve function and relieve conditions such as stress urinary incontinence.

Named after the Greek god of fertility, the Priapuss Shot®, or P-Shot®, is a pioneering new technique, which involves Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) being injected into the penis in order to rejuvenate it, improves sensation and function. The P-Shot can help increase size and girth, enhance sexual performance and improve erectile dysfunction. The P-Shot can also be used to treat Peyronie’s Disease, a condition in which patches of scar tissue develop along the shaft of the penis, resulting in bending of the penis, painful erections and difficulties with sexual intercourse.

Vampire treatments (also known as PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma Rejuvenation) have been one of the most talked about new rejuvenation treatments to emerge in recent years. Using the body’s own natural ability to heal and repair itself, this ground breaking procedure can be used to combat facial ageing as well as to lift and enhance the breasts and has become a favorite among celebrities.

Vampire Breast Lift – OVERVIEW

The Vampire Breast Lift ™ is an exciting new non-surgical technique for subtly enhancing the breasts. The non-surgical breast lift can be used to achieve a more pronounced cleavage or to improve lost volume in the top of the breasts by utilizing regenerative growth factors found in one’s own blood.

Vampire Facelift – OVERVIEW

The Vampire FaceLift ™ derives its name from the fact that it uses one’s own blood to harness powerfully regenerating platelet rich plasma (PRP) which contains a high content of growth factors, the cells responsible for regeneration and repair in our bodies. The Vampire FaceLift™ works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers can slow down the signs of ageing. The Vampire Facelift treatment has become popular because it uses the body’s natural resources, is minimally invasive and has little recovering time and can address the signs of facial ageing both below the surface and on the surface of the skin resulting in re-volumisation, increased collagen and a more radiant complexion.

The Magellan® Platelet Separator is unique in its ability to customize the PRP product and Dr. Al Khayal is one of the most satisfied Magellan users and this is his choice for Autologous platelet separator for sexual therapies in Dubai.  The system can be programmed to deliver a volume of 3-10ml for each processing cycle. This allows physicians to customize the PRP concentration from each processing cycle. The concentration per ml within PRP can also be customized as desired.

GOB is planning to organize the first training for vampire procedures in Dubai in autumn, soon after Ramadan.

The uniqueness of the Vivostat® system is a novel patented biotechnological process that enables reliable and reproducible preparation of autologous Fibrin Sealant or Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF®) without using cryoprecipitation and without the need for a separate thrombin component.

  • The Processor Unit is a non-sterile, reusable, fully automated device that controls the biochemical process.
  • The Processor Unit is used to process the patient’s blood and prepare the Vivostat® Fibrin Sealant or Vivostat PRF® solution.
Vivostat Processor Product
  • The Processor Unit is operated by a single button and a display keeps the nurse informed of the remaining process time and status at all times. No specific installation is required and the large wheelbase makes moving it easy.
  • The Processor Unit can be located in any room or corridor in the operating department. It is most often placed centrally between the operating theatres. This way one Processor Unit can supply a number of operating theatres.
  • In approx.  25 min a concentrated fibrin sealant or PRF® solution is prepared from the patient’s whole blood.
  • The Applicator Unit is a non-sterile, reusable, fully automated device that controls the delivery of the Vivostat® Fibrin Sealant or Vivostat PRF®.
Vivostat Processor Product
  • The large display and integrated microprocessor automatically primes the Spraypen® and informs the surgeon of the remaining volume of fibrin sealant/PRF® throughout the entire process.
  • Different spray modes can be selected depending on the actual procedure or area to be covered. Like the Processor Unit it has a large wheelbase and can easily be moved if required.
  • The disposable set comprises of two parts: A Preparation Kit used to prepare the fibrin sealant or PRF® solution before surgery, and an Application Kit used to activate and apply the fibrin sealant/PRF® solution.

  • Preparation Kit
The Preparation Kit contains the specially designed Preparation Unit – a sterile disposable device in which the patient’s blood is collected, the biochemical process carried out, and the fibrin sealant or PRF® solution harvested.

  • The Application Kit
The Application Kit contains the Spraypen®1 and all other items required to prepare the system for the delivery of the fibrin sealant or PRF® solution. The Spraypen® is a sterile, disposable, hand held device which delivers the fibrin sealant or PRF® solution to the tissue. The revolutionary and patented design offers the surgeon unparalleled freedom in controlling the application unlike any other product on the market today.

1Besides the Spraypen®, the Vivostat® system offers different types of applicators, e.g. the Endoscopic Applicator. For a full list of application devices click here

Three easy steps to prepare Vivostat® Fibrin Sealant or Vivostat PRF®

1. Draw blood from the Patient

Fibrin Prep With Blood Inside

At the time of surgery or up to 24 hours before1, citrate (supplied with the kit) is added to the Preparation Unit. 120 ml of the patient’s own blood is then drawn into the same unit.

2. Process the patient’s blood

Vivostat Processor 800

The Preparation Unit is placed in the Processor Unit. At the touch of a button the process starts; after approx. 25 minutes, an autologous fibrin or PRF® solution is ready for use. No thrombin or bovine components are added to the blood at any time.

3. Load the Applicator Unit and spray

Vivostat Display Applicator

The Fibrin or PRF® solution is easily loaded into the Applicator Unit and applied to the surgical site using one of the unique application devices (e.g. the Spraypen). 1This depends on the type of kit being used. Always consult the “Instructions for Use” supplied with the kit to determine the correct preparation.
